Brunch is my favourite meal of the day, and it is best shared with friends. Don’t you think? This ended up being the theme behind this styled shoot with fellow Ottawa wedding industry creatives. We met through the creative entrepreneur group, The Rising Tide Society, and in June, the leaders at the Rising Tide Society challenged us to come up with a styled shoot that celebrates community and collaboration.
We settled on a Southern theme, because it’s not something you see often in Canada, and especially not in Ottawa. After all, we’re not south at all. We’re true north strong and free! But with the snow gone and summer just around the corner, we wanted to play with the pink colours and celebrate a little Southern hospitality.
The Ottawa TuesdaysTogether group formed in January 2016, so we were still fairly new to each other in June. But as we started planning for this styled shoot, a team of over 30 creatives jumped right on board! Kudos to the planners for managing such a giant group. It was so much fun to collaborate with my new creative family.
I worked closely with the stationery team, made up of myself, Becca of The Happy Ever Crafter, Liz of Ivy Stripe, and Christine of LaFabère. Becca and I are both calligraphers, so the first task was to split up calligraphy work. She focused on signage, and I focused on the stationery details. In the end, I ended up creating the place cards, menus, table number, envelope calligraphy, and digitizing my calligraphy for the invitations (which Liz put together) and gift boxes (which Christine put together). It was neat to see everyone’s various styles shine, and fit together so well at the same time.
I loved being able to do calligraphy in the comfort of my home, and then see Liz and Christine transform my work into beautiful works of art! If you like our various styles together, we would love to work together again to create something custom, just for you. Seriously, I would jump at the opportunity to collaborate with these girls again.
I was not able to attend the shoot in person, but I followed the behind-the-scenes of the day on Snapchat, and I loved the opportunity to work with this incredible team. If you want to meet us, why not join our group? We meet every month in the Westboro area of Ottawa, on the second Tuesday of the month. Join the Ottawa TuesdaysTogether Facebook group for more info!
